Julianna Kwiatek Married in Sosnowiec, Poland, on 18 November 1922
My grandparents Jan Skrok and Agnieszka Kapuścińska Skrok returned to Poland with their two oldest children Helena and Czesław in September 1920. The following September, they were followed by Jan’s mother Marianna Kasprzyk Skrok Kwiatek, her husband Andrzej Kwiatek, and their children Julia, Aniela, Leon, and baby Zofia Kwiatek. I wrote They Returned to Poland.
On 18 November 1922, Julianna Kwiatek and Jan Mendera/Mędera married in the Kościoł św. Tomasza Apostoła [Church of Saint Thomas the Apostle] in the Pogoń neighborhood of Sosnowiec, Kielce Voivodeship, Poland.

206 Pogoń
This happened in the city of Sosnowiec, Pogoń parish, on the 18th of November, 1922, at 6 p.m. We announce that today, in the presence of witnesses, Paweł Zak and Jan Guche?, adult workers from Pogoń, on the above mentioned day a religious marriage was contracted between Jan Mendera/Mędera, age 35, bachelor, worker, born in the parish of Ogrodzieniec, residing in Pogoń, son of Jan and Marianna nee Kijas, and Julianna Kwiatek, age 18, maiden, born in the parish of Denków, residing in Pogoń, daughter of Andrzej and Marianna nee Kasprzyk. This wedding was preceded by three readings of the banns in the local parish church on the 29th of October, 5th and 12th of November this year. The newlyweds did not enter into a prenuptial agreement – they also declared that the child, Marianna, born on February 2, 1922, and registered in the parish of Pogoń in the current year, was born during their cohabitation before the marriage. By this marriage act, they acknowledge the child as their own and, based on paragraph 291 of the Civil Law for the Kingdom of Poland, secure for the child the privileges and rights granted to legitimate offspring. Permission for the bride to enter into marriage was granted orally by her parents. The religious marriage ceremony was performed by Father Roman Pytlan. This document was read to the newlyweds and witnesses and was signed only by us. Father Franciszek Pędzik/Pędziak?
