Family Connections

I began looking at the Kiec family in Buffalo because both my grandfather’s sister Stanisława Skrok and my grandmother married Adam Kiec, and my mother had many Kiec cousins. I continued to research this Kiec family when I learned I was a distant DNA match to a granddaughter of Marian Barański and Agnieszka Kolasa. We know the Kiec family comes from Radom, the Russian occupied area of Poland that my mother’s Polish ancestors were from. Agnieszka Kolasa‘s parents Józef Kolasa and Joanna Jernatowska had come from West Prussia, the German occupied area of Poland where my father’s grandparents had originated. Their descendants had met and married in Buffalo, Erie, New York.
